Last time... Kiva, the abandoned squire (played by Bryna) and Jelle, the disgraced artisan (played by Will), had entered a serpa tomb, only to find a malevolent presence was aware of their presence, and more than slightly amused they had broken in. They narrowly avoided being crushed to death by a door.
The darkness was broken by the gasping of torches. The shadows leapt back into hexagonal corners, covered in lichen.Three large egg-structures were in the center of the room. The shadows further retreated into a passageway, where they stayed. Taking a look around, Kiva found a rusted wall sconce on the ground, which had been previously wrenched out of one of the grimy walls. The eggs had a recessed lip on them; using the sconce and a chain from Jelle's back pack, Kiva levered open one of the eggs.
A loud moaning reverberated out of the egg. Jelle and Kiva jumped back. Inside the egg lay a serpa skeleton, complete with skeletal tail. As it wailed Kiva saw that its claws grasped a bejeweled sword; the edge looked quite sharp. Reaching in, Kiva hesitantly pulled the sword out and away. The screaming skeleton did not resist. They put the lid back on. The screaming stopped.
With a wave of his hand a few words Jelle caused the lid of the next egg to pop off. Out popped a one-armed serpa skeleton, screeches rocking at the hexagonal corners of the room. Jelle came up behind it with the chain and held it still so that Kiva could get a swing at it with her new sword. She accidentally clipped Jelle, which slowed down the sword swing. She swung again and cut down the skeleton. The couldn't find anything else in that egg.
They knew what to expect on the third egg. Out it came. All of a sudden there was a werewolf in Jelle's clothes. He pulled out some pitch from his pack and drenched the skeleton in it. Kiva, wondering aloud when Jelle had said he was a werewolf, set the skeleton alight with her torch. It grabbed Kiva and left a huge patch of fire on her. Her backpack had also been grabbed. Squeals could be heard: Kiva had brought live rats into the dungeon, wondering if they would be useful. They were thoroughly cooked now.
They smelled quite delicious.
At the bottom of this skeleton's egg they found a false bottom, with rotted papers beneath. Looking up, they saw the passageway beyond, beckoning to them. In the next room was a pool of standing water. The stones around it were thick with moss. In the center of the pool was an enormous pedestal with a hideous golden statue of a serpa god, gesturing in victory. Looking around with their torches, Jelle and Kiva found that the stone beneath the pedestal had eroded before the water; there was a passageway under the statue. They climbed atop the golden statue; it was indeed solid gold, and relatively soft. Jelle cut some off with some manacles he had in his pack. When Kiva cut some of the statue off (with the help of her newly acquired sword) she head that same voice from before, chuckling: "So, you fancy yourself a tomb robber. Very interesting."
What Kiva had gathered from the statue was not enough to keep her from starving to death once she got out. Jelle and Kiva pocketed their ill-gotten gains and swam through the submerged tunnel to... wherever.
They came up for air in the familiar dark.
